Post a Comment Danger Mouse's latest collaboration with The Shin's James Mercer is one of the more highly anticipated projects of the year. Under the name Broken Bells, the Gnarles Barkley DJ and sensitive indie frontman, will release their self-titled album in March followed closely by a SXSW performance.
Going by the single, "The High Road," I am excited by the prospect of some genuine low-end subtle grooves supporting the shoegaze sound. Along with some gang vocals, acoustic guitars, and quirky casio electronics, DJ Danger Mouse seems to infuse dark quiet confidence into a typical whiney-wailing but endearing Shins sound.

NPR provides the exclusive first listen of Broken Bells' debut self-titled release, which hits stores March 9. The collaboration between Shin's frontman James Mercer and Dj Danger Mouse, aka Brian Burton, bring an authentic treat of indie-melodic songwriting supported by tasteful subtle electronic production. However, this isn't some mere side project for either of the established musicians. Broken Bells is coming out of the studio as a touring band and will be performing at NPR's SXSW showcase.
